What to Expect

Initial Contact and First Session

Initial Phone Consultation. After you reach out via email or phone call, we will schedule an initial phone consultation where we will assess whether it will be a good fit. I will ask you about what's bringing you to therapy at this time and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. If you've been in therapy before, I will want to know what has worked well for you and what hasn't worked for you in the past. We will also do a risk assessment to see if you are a good fit for outpatient care. This is also your chance to get a sense of me, how I work, and how we vibe. It's important to find a therapist who feels like a good fit, so I welcome any and all questions you may have.

First Session. During our first session, we will discuss in greater detail what you want for yourself out of therapy. I will also invite you to share with me what you think is important for me to know about you. I may ask you questions about your past so that I can get a greater understanding of who you are, where you come from, and what's important to you. I welcome you to share openly with me about how you're feeling about our relationship and our work together.

Fees

My current fee is a sliding scale between $185 and $225 for a 50 minute session.

Whether initially or sometime during treatment you are unable to pay for the full fee, we can try to negotiate a fee reduction; reduced fees are subject to availability.

As an out-of-network insurance provider for other insurance plans and carriers, I can provide you with a statement of services which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.  In this case, most insurance companies will reimburse you directly for treatment.  If you are interested in receiving reimbursement you may want to call your insurance company and ask the following questions:
  • Are out-of-network providers of mental health services covered?
  • If so, what amount or percentage of sessions are covered?
  • Do I have an out-of-network deductible?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions that may be covered?
  • Is pre-authorization required?
  • What information do they require for reimbursement?

I accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards (so you can use pre-tax income).

If you need a lower fee, here is a resource list of low fee clinics in San Francisco.

Office

My office is located on the 3rd floor of 414 Gough St. in Suite 6. There is a door code to get into the building, 2 flights of stairs, and another door code to enter Suite 6. My office fits families of up to 4 people comfortably.

Policies

Sessions are typically at a frequency of once a week for 50 minutes. For couples and families, sometimes we will decide to have 75 minute sessions.

All sessions are currently being held in person at my office in Hayes Valley or through a HIPAA compliant version of Zoom.

My cancellation policy takes into consideration the following factors:
  • therapy is a commitment that you are making for your personal growth or your family
  • I reserve time in my schedule specifically for you
  • flexibility is needed because life happens
If you can’t make your session, we will try to make it up through telehealth or rescheduling to a different time around the same week. I provide 4 free cancellations per year, or 1 free cancellation every 3 months if we have been working together for less than a year. All cancellation and reschedule requests must be made at least 2 hours before the start of your session time. If you cancel within 2 hours or miss more than 4 sessions in a year, you will be charged the full fee for any additional sessions missed.

Please note: practice policies are different for patients using insurance, as there are certain limitations set by the insurance process.
