Oil on Canvas (24x36")
In 2016, I was obsessed with Hamilton the musical by Lin Manuel Miranda. That fall I took a portraiture class in oil painting at the San Francisco Art Institute. My first project was a replica of Alexander Hamilton by John Trumbull (after painting by Giuseppe Ceracchi, 1801), currently at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. I (accidentally) added more tension in his face and deepened the furrow of his brows, as the future of our country was more uncertain than ever that year. |
